Registering a soon to expire domain name

Lets face it- most decent domain names you think of, the chances are they're already registered. It is estimated over 20,000 new domains are registered every day. It's getting harder each day--literally--to register a good domain. To add to the problem, many registered domains aren't even in use by the owner for one reason or another. Many such names are left to expire when their expiration date comes, which is where you come in.

If you locate a domain that's about to expire, it is perfectly acceptable to try and register it once it does expire. Note that there is usually a 60 day grace period after a domain has expired in which the owner still is given a chance to renew it. Once that period passes, the first person to grab the domain becomes the new owner.

So the trick is, how do you ensure that you're the first person to grab a domain as soon as an expired domain becomes formally available? Due to the intense competition, there are now services that help you actively monitor and quickly register the desired domain name. Check out the following services on domain name back ordering:

-Snapnames
-Pool
-Namewinner
-Thefirstname
-Namefox
-Dropwizard
-Dropcatcher
-Godaddy (backorders)
